We would find the conversation a trifle one-sided.
I have a couple of books to recommend on the topic of animal communication; What the Robin Knows, by Jon Young, and Grizzly Years by Doug Peacock. The Jon Young book is about bird language, and it was somewhat mind-blowing. I’m much more aware of birds and what they’re up to after reading that one. It’s as if an entire layer of wilderness has become visible, just above us. It doesn’t matter where you are, there is usually some bird action going on. Doug Peacock’s book about the grizzly bear is a good read on many levels, one of them being his alertness to what the bears are telling him (and the other bears) by their body language and vocalizations. He was out there with the bears for many years, and we can all benefit from his experience since he wrote it down.
