I still have the streaming Netflix going (hence all the Airport movie watching), and I feel that I must level a criticism at this otherwise worthwhile service. They ask you to provide ratings for things you’ve watched, and from this input they’ll be able to come up with Suggestions For You. I’ve been using the Netflix for a long time, and so I’ve rated a bunch (471) of things. They’ve churned through this and have come up with two (2) suggestions for me. One is a TV show (Firefly), which I’m sure is fine and everything, but I’m not going to watch TV shows. The other is “This is Spinal Tap”, which I saw once before, and would not knowingly watch again. They’ve helpfully grouped these two suggestions into separate genres, as a selection aid. I click on Suggestions For You every once and a while, and it’s always these two duds. Now, I know they have a lot of problems down there right now, but this just seems wrong to me. I remember this working better in the past. If I paid an extra dollar per month, would I get the good suggestions back? Anyway, I’m going to head over to Netflix now and continue watching Flame and Citron. I suggest you do the same.
