It’s less than three weeks until the Bearpaw High Sierra Camp trip. The Peak Project didn’t include quite as many peaks as one might have hoped, but there were some decent probes accomplished. Just last weekend, the Resident Expert and I surveilled the Skyline Trail.
We saw a California Striped Racer on the way back to the car. Here he is, weaving his way through some madrone leaves.
And the weekend before, The Letter and I circumnavigated Mount Diablo on the Grand Loop trail. That’s a challenging trail, and I don’t know that I would hike it again, unless the visibility was really outstanding. Not that the viewing was sub-par when we were there, but this would be somewhat astonishing on a crystal clear day. Here’s a snap of Mt. Tamalpais, way off in the distance. I had hoped to bag that peak as part of the Project, but it may have to wait until post-Paw.
