I just mailed my last red envelope back to Netflix (it was Clint’s ‘Hereafter’; can’t actually recommend it).  I wasn’t all that upset about their big change last week.  This was the prompt I needed to let go of the DVD form factor and embrace the stream from the cloud.  That sounds weird.  As many others have said, their ‘watch instantly’ streaming video selection leaves something to be desired (like; good movies).  But it was time. In an homage to an earlier home media transition, the first thing I watched ‘instantly’ after dropping the DVD service was “A Hard Day’s Night”.  That’s the first video I rented when we got our first VCR, in the mid ’80’s.  Then I started watching “Dog Day Afternoon”.  But it’s not like I can only watch (instantly) movies that reference a time of day.
