You might want to grab the list of words and phrases I’ve been complaining about, because I’ve got another one for you. You’re talking to a guy and he prefaces a comment with, “to be honest…”. What are we to make of this? All that preceded was false? That’s what I’m going with. I figure if he’s framing something as “honest”, everything outside of the frame is not.

Be particularly alert for this phrase when speaking with anyone in the service industry.
