an unlikely textbook maneuver

Mellowcat has been dealing with the AV nodal reentrant tachycardia for quite a while, although Mellowcat didn’t know what it was until about 15 years ago. Since then, the emcat has been taking a daily beta-blocker to keep the ol’ Evinrude cranking at a more or less even rate. Every once in a while, things get a bit out of hand and we just have to ride it out. But thanks to Wikipedia, we now know about a technique called the Valsalva Maneuver that reportedly works for just this sort of thing.  And so far, so good.  Had one of those AVNRT events last Saturday, went right into “the Maneuver”, and it stopped immediately.  Didn’t come back either. I then went four days until another episode, and again launched into the Maneuver.  Two for two now.
