Today and tomorrow mark the highest astronomical tides of the year, according to the weather guys. That didn’t say if that was “so far this year”, or if this is the highest predicted tide for the whole year. But that hardly matters to me; I just like that they called them “the King’s tides”. Yesterday we were at Pillar Point, at low tide. This picture gives you some idea what it was like. The conditions you see here were very much a local phenomena. If you walked about 100 yards back from the point, the sun was shining and the region’s many dogs were chasing thrown objects. In this picture you can barely see some people out in the fog looking at tide pools. It was very windy, so we were observing from behind this sandstone wall.
