Out to dinner tonight at Milagro’s we were seated next to a couple of loud talkers, and so I feel that I can relay some of their conversation (in case you couldn’t hear them from your location). They were at the end of a day of sailing, apparently as skippers of a sailboat on the Bay, with a clientele that maybe consisted of a few all-powerful Silicon Valley types. For the most part, they weren’t critical of their clients as individuals. Their comments could have been applied generally to the world’s population. My takeaway from their banter was the frequent use of the phrase “the gate”. Kept coming up, as in “leaving the gate”, or “outside the gate”. After a while it dawned on me that they were referring to the Golden Gate. So now I will use this in casual conversation. I would like to take a sailing class some day. Maybe I can talk The Letter into doing this with me.
