nesting pair

We have a couple of new friends staying at our place.  A pair of mourning doves have a nest someplace near the deck in back of the house – maybe up in the big pine tree.  They seem to like to perch on the deck arbors and around the front door.  Yesterday one kept flying up to the window when he (or she) noticed that I was observing them.  Up close, these are attractive birds.  They have pale blue rings around their eyes and subtle patterns in their feathers.

This terrific photo is from Flickr, by Bruce Tuten. Nice work.
