It’s interesting to see the politics shift around a bit now that the Senate Finance Committee has finished its version of a health care reform bill. Mr. Nate Silver appraised the initial response this way; Baucus Compromise Bill Draws Enthusiastic Support of Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) and Mr. Yglesias said Baucus Gets . . . Nothing. But now people are starting to like some of what they came up with. If this turns out to provide lots of people with some health care that can’t get it now, and looks like it will reduce the deficit over the long term, it will be tough to oppose it, seems to me. What do I know? Not a whole lot. I’ll have to wait a few more days before I acquire a firm opinion.
