smallcarSo GM says it will build 160,000 small cars in the U.S. as a signal of its intention to compete in the global marketplace.  Didn’t I already recommend that we let GM fail?  Why are they still talking about building cars?  I’m not optimistic about what they’ll come up with.  Maybe a three-door diesel hatchback?  They tried that in the 1981 Chevette.  The image that’s making the rounds as an example of what they’ll produce looks horrible.  Buyers could overlook the absurd styling if the car was well engineered, but confidence in GM’s technology is likely to be low.
