The SF Chronicle has an article about the Census Bureau’s 2010 count, and describes census takers “tromping through the tenement apartments of the Tenderloin [and] the trailer parks of Redwood City”. I’ve lived in the Tenderloin – and the apartment wasn’t so great, but it’s all we could afford in SF, and some of RWC’s trailer parks are actually pretty nice – they’re right on the bay. So it shouldn’t be too scary for the census takers. Anyway, they might have a more complete life experience to draw from when “tromping” in an unfamiliar neighborhood, compared to the Chronicle’s reporter.
